Gearing up for its 15th anniversary to be celebrated in December, the Seychelles Revenue Commission has today launched a poem and essay competition under the theme ‘Contributing to Transform Seychelles’ which is also the Commission‘s motto.
The poem competition is open to children from crèche year 2 up to primary 4, whilst the essay competition is targeted at primary 5 students up to tertiary education.
Participants can express themselves in any of the three national languages (English, French or Creole) for both competitions, and must for the essay competition remain within the word limit as allocated for each category.
Submission can be done in writing on A4 paper for poem or on filing paper for the essay. Typed written entries for the essay competition is also welcomed through Microsoft word or pdf document using the times new roman font via email to tesd@src.gov.sc
The competition which is now open will close on 8 November at 4pm. All participants are advised to enclose the registration form upon submission of their entries available via the SRC’s website at www.src.gov.sc and also collectible at their respective school.
Director Taxpayers Education and Service Delivery Ms. Sheryl Barra explains further: “This year, as the Commission will mark its 15th anniversary, we want to hear from the young citizens, that is; what do they understand about taxes, its benefits and its contribution to the Seychelles economy.
“As part of our education strategy, we want to increase engagement on tax awareness at grassroots level, hence is an opportune time to engage with the students by providing them the platform to share their ideas, experience and thoughts on SRC’s achievements and importance as we prepare the many activities planned to mark the commissions 15th year of existence”.
Interesting prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place winners in each category at a special ceremony set to take place in December 2024, on the day of SRC’s 15th anniversary. All participants will also receive a certificate of participation.
