The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) last Friday 12 December 2025, honored 26 staff members for their unwavering support and commitment during its long service awards 2025, held on the Ochan Restaurant in Eden Island.
The distinguished event attended by the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment, Mr. Pierre Laporte also saw the participation of SRC board members and executives alongside the long service awardees.
The evening held in celebration of SRC’s anniversary recognized employees who have attained a remarkable 15 up to 35 years of service with the commission equally in the public sector and employees who will be soon retiring from their profession.
The event also served in remembrance of the departed colleagues of the SRC who would have celebrates their work anniversaries this year.
The pivotal moment of the evening was the presentation of the long service award to Mr. Fernando Lafortune for marking 39 years of service to the SRC and the public sector, who will now be proceeding forward with his retirement.
Addressing the awardees the Commissioner General of SRC, Mrs. Varsha Singh said; “As we celebrate today, let us remember that SRC’s strength lies not only in its structures, reforms, and digital ambitions, but in the people who give them life.
“Each milestone we mark is a testament to the values of service, integrity, and perseverance that continues to guide us.
“It is you the People of SRC that we celebrate tonight”.
Delivering his keynote address to the awardees, the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment echoed: “The mandate of the SRC is closely tied to the drivers of economic growth such as tourism, fisheries, and trade, to name a few.
“Today, we recognize the immense work that goes behind the scenes at the Commission: servicing and educating our taxpayers/traders, enforcing laws and regulations, maintaining trade flows, collecting and assessing revenue, and safeguarding our borders against illicit practices.
“It is only fitting that today we pause to give due recognition to this special group of employees.”
In closing, the Deputy Commissioner General of SRC also expressed a special appreciation to the awardees for remaining as the the backbone of this institution, for their hard work, resilience, and loyalty in inspiring the next generation of professionals.
The long service award ceremony, ended with a celebratory cocktail in recognition of the awardees for reaching important service milestones at the Commission.
