ELECTION OF MRS VERONIQUE HERMINIE AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE AWITN

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has proudly announced the election of the former Commissioner General, Mrs. Veronique Herminie, as the Chairperson of the Board of the ATAF Women in Tax Network (AWITN) based in Pretoria, South Africa which took place at the Board’s meeting on 23rd November 2023, held at the back of the “Reducing Gender Inequality in Africa” workshop organized by AWITN in collaboration with ATAF Secretariat and its partners.

Mrs. Herminie has been a founding member of the Board of AWITN since it was founded by the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) in March 2021 as part of the Women’s day activities for that year.

The network provides a formal environment for women working in tax and tax related fields in Africa in different capacity (be it in public or private sector) to raise awareness of the potential impact tax policy may have on gender equality.

It also serves as a support platform at a more individual level to women in tax by facilitating mentoring program and other professional development opportunities for leadership. Mrs. Herminie being one of the mentors on the program brings to the Board and the network not only her experience in taxation, but also in administration, management and leadership.

The has been very active over the past two and a half years on the Board, participating either as a Speaker or Moderator at the leadership and gender equality conferences. Mrs. Herminie replaces Dr. Amelia Muendane, the President of the Mozambique Revenue Authority, as Chairperson of the Board of the AWITN.

Over the years, a number of employees of the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) have benefitted from the program organized by the AWITN and ATAF.

The SRC management hopes to engage more with the network now that one of its own, representing Seychelles have taken the leadership role.

SRC wishes Mrs. Herminie success in her new added responsibility.
