The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) and the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) have officially formalized their commitment to greater cooperation and consultation through the fulfilment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the SRC’s Commissioner General, Mrs. Varsha Singh and Commissioner General, Mr. Dingani Banda of the ZRA.
Reflective of the shared objectives of both revenue administration, the agreement, marks a critical step in the strengthening of SRC’s digital transformation plan.
Under the agreement, SRC will be able to tap into ZRA resource of expert professionals to support the automation and streamlining of its operations by introducing innovative solutions as part of its service enhancement.
The MoU also aims to facilitate the exchange of information, policy research and development, leadership peer learning opportunities, capacity building efforts through knowledge sharing and best practices, to further elevate the competencies of both authorities.
Speaking about the importance of this partnership, SRC Commissioner General, Mrs. Varsha Singh said, “This partnership with the Zambia Revenue Authority is a strategic milestone in SRC’s journey of turning our digital strategy into operational reality.
“The MoU will enable us to harness digital innovation, peer learning, and collaborative expertise to build a more agile, transparent, and taxpayer-centric organization. We are confident that this cooperation will accelerate our transformation agenda and strengthen our capacity to deliver smarter, more responsive services to our taxpayers.”
The Zambia Revenue Authority Commissioner General, Mr. Dingani Banda said the cooperation agreement will expose both teams to new ideas, practices, and experiences relevant to revenue generation and service delivery to taxpayers.
“The MOU, which is focused on capacity building initiatives and exchange of best practices is a demonstration that both parties, the Zambia Revenue Authority and the Seychelles Revenue Commission, are committed to collaboration and mutual respect,” he said.
To note, earlier this year, the ZRA hosted a delegation from the SRC on a five-day study tour in Zambia aimed at gaining insight into ZRA operations and modernization processes to benchmark best practices, amongst others.
ZRA Commissioner General, Mr. Dingani Banda welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of the initiative taken in equipping SRC with essential tools and skills to fortify its internal processes and improve efficiency.
The commitment to deepen the existing cooperation between the two revenue authorities, is therefore testament that collective efforts amongst institutions is the way forward to drive domestic resource mobilization and sustainable development amongst nations.
