SRC ESTABLISHES CHEQUE THRESHOLD POLICY FOR PAYMENT

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) will effective Monday 6 July 2026, implement its new cheque threshold policyn for payment of taxes, duties and levies to strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation and drive taxpayers’ culture towards the use of digital solutions to ensure genuine financial sustainability when transacting with the Commission.

Under the new policy, the payment threshold for taxpayers transacting with cheque to the tax division will be as follows:
• 2026: Accepted cheque payments will be up to SCR 200,000
• 2027: Accepted cheque payments will be up to SCR 100,000
• 2028: Accepted cheque payments will be up to SCR 50,000

For cheque payments to the Customs Division, the acceptable threshold is up to SCR50,000. For payments exceeding the threshold, traders will be required to settle the balance by using the customs pre-payment account, direct electronic transfer, point-of-sale (POS) or any other approved digital payment methods.

The phase-out approach being implemented by the SRC aims to alleviate the financial risks and challenges associated with usage of cheque, including fraud, theft, insufficient funds on accounts, leading to administrative delays in processing, clearing and recovery of funds.

As the SRC continues to transform its service delivery, the newly established measure is a step forward in building a more secure, efficient tax system, enabling improvement in operational efficiencies, reduction in cost of collection, and the transitioning of taxpayers’ compliance behaviour towards digitalisation.

Whilst payment will continue to be widely accepted, the SRC is encouraging taxpayers to start transitioning to electronic payment options which offers unparalleled convenience, speed, and security.

The SRC is also advising taxpayers to use the correct bank account details for all tax payments as follows:
• Account Name: Seychelles Revenue Commission – Collection Account
• Bank Name: Central Bank of Seychelles
• Account Number: 14192
• Account Currency: SCR (Seychelles Rupees)
• IBAN: SC82SSCB11010000000000014192SCR

Taxpayers are being reminded to email the proof of payment to banktransfer@src.gov.sc with the tax payment slip on or before the 21st of the following applicable month upon completing the transfer to ensure timely processing.

For further guidance taxpayers can email advisory.centre@src.gov.sc or visit any SRC offices on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue.
