SRC OPEN DAY ON LA DIGUE SCHEDULED ON 22 NOVEMBER 2024

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) will on Friday 22 November 2024 host an open day on La Digue, affirming its commitment to enhance taxpayer’s relationship with SRC and further improve services offered to taxpayers on this island.

The open day set to commence from 10am to 3pm will allow taxpayers the opportunity to meet with key officers from the legal, enforcement and advisory unit. Taxpayers having debt, penalties or legal matters with SRC are advised to take this opportunity to meet with the officers who will be on site at the District Administration Centre within the aforementioned timeframe.

For taxpayers seeking general tax and customs guidance, queries pertaining to tax laws and its applications, or information on how to better understand their rights and obligations as taxpayer, a Provision of Advice Officer will also be present to provide one-to–one assistance.

As part of the open day, SRC Officers will also conduct visit to several businesses on the island to provide further education on tax and customs policies and procedures, to strengthen its domestic revenue mobilization efforts ahead of the annual tax lodgment of returns and payment in March 2025.

Director Taxpayer’s Education and Service Delivery, Ms. Sheryl Barra said: “Part of SRC’s strategy is focused on enhancing tax and customs education within the community. To foster an improved culture of voluntary compliance, it is important that SRC continues to maximize its efforts in providing more clarity about SRC services, processes and procedures, changes in laws. SRC is thus taking this initiative to also that taxpayers on Inner Island have access to its services similar to that offered on Mahe.

“As that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to transforming the Seychelles tax culture, for this open day, the Commission focus remains on increasing one-to-one engagement with taxpayers one La Digue, in addition to conducting site visits at selected businesses to gain an in-depth understating of the taxpayers compliance level.”

The SRC is encouraging taxpayers on La Digue to seize this opportune time to meet with its officers, to clarify any pertinent issues and to also seek any guidance on any tax and customs matters, laws, procedures and applications in preparation for annual lodgment of return in March 2025.
