SRC Marks World Wellbeing Week 2023

World Wellbeing Week, marked between 26 and 30 June yearly, raises awareness on the many aspects of wellbeing, from a persons’ physical, mental and emotional health, to the wellbeing of one at their workplace, home and during leisure time.

Wellbeing has never been more important than today, as post pandemic has revealed that during times of adversity, people globally had to quickly adapt to different ways of thinking and build a new-found resilience to adjust to change as part of their wellbeing.

As an increasing number of businesses now embraces wellbeing as a strategic priority, on their part in honor of Word Wellbeing week, the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) last week hosted two separate activities to encourage its staff members to take care of their wellbeing.

The first activity held on Monday, 26 June 2023, gathered members of the organizations’ executive team at the CEPS conference room for a talk focused about mental health awareness at the workplace. The talk was facilitated by Mr. Daniel Mahoune and his team from the Ministry of Health.

Attendees at the session had the opportunity to explore the issue of workplace mental health more in-depth, including how to cope with work stressors, apart from having the chance to test their blood pressure and sugar level on site in addition to undergoing the basic mental health screening.

The second activity held on Wednesday, 28 June 2023, hosted by Mr. Steve Thelermont, entailed a yoga session at the organizations’ headquarters, Maison Colet. The exercise attended by staff members across the organization involved relaxation, mediation and a systematic set of physical exercises synchronized with breathing, as a means to relieve stress and achieve physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being at the workplace.

Director Tax Education and Service Delivery, Ms. Sheryl Barra said: “This year is actually the first time that SRC observes world wellbeing week, an activity which has been incorporated into the organizations’ internal communications plan to actively promote work culture, increase positive staff engagement and resilience, to enable higher performance in service delivery and the overall productivity of the organization.”

In this regard, SRC wishes to extend its sincere thanks to all those who have been involved in the successful organization of the activities held, and also the partners for accepting to impart their expert knowledge and skills to the staff members.
