SBSA, PERSEVERANCE AND ENGLISH RIVER SECONDARY SCHOOL LEARNS ABOUT THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF SRC INTERNAL AUDITORS

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has since the beginning of May 2024,  met with over ninety students from two secondary schools and one post-secondary institution, as part of its awareness campaign to impart knowledge about the roles, functions and importance Internal Auditors plays within an organization.

The initiative held to mark this years’ Internal Audit Awareness (IA) Month, a global event celebrated annually in May, also highlighted the work of the IA officers, whose jobs are constantly seen to be performed behind the scenes.

Successfully championed under the theme ‘Growing Awareness of Internal Audit’, throughout the month, the SRC’s team of Internal Auditors, conducted a series of educational sessions firstly targeting staff members of the Commission by providing further understanding on the importance of good practices and the benefit of continuously assessing controls to improve the overall performance of Commission.

Externally, the team held a dedicated session to third year accounting and finance students currently studying at the School of Business Studies and Accounting (SBSA), to elaborate on the standard of this professional practice in addition to gauging career interest in the field.

Students from the English River and Perseverance Secondary schools also had the chance to attend an interactive session delivered by the Internal Auditors. The session was focused on key topics such as the value and assurance Internal Auditors brings to an organization, the discipline approach required when performing the job, the importance of transparency and in relations to SRC, the importance of maintaining strict adherence to governance in place.

Following the success of the internal audit awareness campaign, SRC expresses its gratitude and appreciation to all the schools involved in the campaign, for their positive response and active participation in recognizing the role of Internal Auditors especially the team from the SRC.
