FUEL REFUND PROCEDURE FOR LICENSED CARGO FERRY VESSELS

In line with SI 108 of 2022, fuel consumed by ‘licensed cargo ferry vessels’ transporting cargo by sea between Islands shall receive a concession of 25% of the applicable rate of Excise Tax on fuel.

The concession is effective from 1st October, 2022 ending on 31st September, 2023.

To claim the concession, operators of licensed cargo ferry vessels must:

  1. Purchase fuel from a SEYPEC fuel meter.
  2. Pay and keep all receipts of fuel purchased (in full) from SEYPEC.
  3. Submit a refund request to the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) by completing the Refund Application Form obtainable from the Customs Refund Unit via email to src-inland-revenue-refund@src.gov.sc, on the SRC website at gov.sc or by calling 4298660.

The refund will be processed by SRC via bank transfer:

  1. On a quota of maximum of three (3) return trips per week per licensed vessel.
  2. Based on details of the trips recorded from start to finish in a certified log book.
  3. Based on valid stamped receipts provided for fuel received from SEYPEC.

Note – Correct bank account details should be provided.

All refund requests must be submitted to SRC within 10 working days following the applicable month for the claim. For example, claims for the month of November 2022, must be submitted to SRC by the 10th December, 2022.  Claims for October 2022 should also be submitted by 10th December.

The forms can be submitted via the email stated above or delivered in person at the Customs Refund Unit located at the Sunshine House in Providence, Mahe.

Operators of licensed cargo ferry vessels are advised to enclose all relevant documents as listed above with the refund application form.
