The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has today successfully hosted its customs annual forum as part of its strategy to enhance communication between the clearing agents, direct trader input users, traders and the Commission.
The interactive forum held at the Docklands Auditorium led by the Commissioner of Customs, Mr. Paul Barrack follows through the series of initiatives being organized by the SRC to mark International Customs Day 2026 being commemorated under the theme” Customs protecting society through vigilance and commitment”.
Attendees of the forum had the opportunity to gain an overview of trade performance in 2025 based on declarations recorded, penalties administered and improvements made in Customs procedures to facilitate trade.
The forum also focused on the customs appeal procedure, the right process to follow by the traders’ including period to file an appeal and timeframe of response expected from SRC after submission of the appeal, should the trader be dissatisfied with an administrative decision made by Customs.
With technology, revolutionizing customs from manual paper-based processes to automated systems, the forum also featured a detailed presentation on the upgrade of the automated system for customs data (ASYCUDA) being conducted by SRC and the new features being added therein.
The forum also comprised of an informative session facilitated by representative of the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) about the Port Victoria Management Information System (PVMIS), for the electronic submission of standardized information to a single-entry point by traders, transport operators, and regulatory agencies accessing the port.
Attendees had the opportunity to engage on a one-to-one basis with the customs executive management team throughout the forum, asking questions and clarifying doubts about challenges in maintaining compliance.
