SEYCHELLES REVENUE COMMISSION ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC TRANSFORMATION PLAN

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has today announced a new strategic transformation plan aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies to drive the sustainable development and growth of the Commission.

The transformation plan set to be implemented over 3 years (2024 – 2027), follows a comprehensive organizational analysis conducted in June 2024, in collaboration with the African Tax Administration Forum and the United Nations Development Program.

The key functionalities defining the core purpose of the SRC evaluated as part of the organizational analysis included, the overall mandate and strategy, the policies, procedures, processes in place, the use of technology and systems, the aspect of service delivery, communication, and human capital development. The analysis also provided the SRC employees the opportunity to share their feedback and ideas which has been thoughtfully incorporated into the transformation roadmap.

Following the endorsement of the plan by the SRC’s Governing Board and the Ministry of Finance, National planning and Trade, it was on Wednesday, 21st August that the transformation plan was presented to the Cabinet of Ministers by the SRC’s delegation led by the Commissioner General, Mrs. Varsha Singh.

Addressing the Cabinet of Ministers the Commissioner General explained how the organizational analysis has been useful in allowing SRC to understand its current state, its strengths, weaknesses and areas requiring immediate attention or further improvement.

To address the root causes that emerged out of the analysis, Commissioner Singh highlighted a series of interventions that will be taken within the next 3 years focused on SRC’s policies, procedures and processes, oversight and governance, skills development as well as leadership and technology.

Maintaining accountability and oversight on the execution of the plan, the SRC has created an internal transformation committee comprised of 7 staff members. The committee responsible for the execution of the transformation roadmap, meets regularly to report on the actions undertaken as part of the roadmap, engages with staff members across the Commission on their requirements, identify opportunities and forward-looking changes aligned with the overall strategic vision of the SRC, to drive the meaningful change in efficiency, transparency and service excellence.
