SRC ELEVATES TAXPAYERS EXPERIENCE, MOVES LA DIGUE OFFICE TO NEW LOCATION

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has since Monday, 16 October 2023, been providing its services to taxpayers on La Digue island, at its new location based in the La Passe Pension House.

The strategic move from the district administration office to the Pension House forms part of the organizations operational plan to not only decentralize its services, but to also improve the overall experience of taxpayers accessing the facility, in addition to enhancing the ease of doing business in an improved comfortable setting for taxpayers.

The office based on the first floor of the La Passe Pension House offering payment and all related domestic tax services, is currently being managed by two staff members of the organization. As part of its service offering, the team, will also continue to cater for cashiering services on behalf of the Seychelles Licensing Authority (SLA) and the Fair Trading Commission (FTC).

Given that the office is based on a top floor, understanding the constraint of accessibility for taxpayers with reduced mobility, to enhance efficiencies, the SRC has laid for provisions for this segment, building on its commitment by extending a personalized service (door-to door) to those who would need to conduct their transaction with the organization.  Through this customized service, SRC expects to increase its business to client relationship, in line with its values of professionalism, transparency, trust and fairness.

Speaking about the relocation, Director Taxpayer’s Education and Service Delivery, Ms. Sheryl Barra said: “Looking at the services SRC provides as a revenue entity, we are conducting an ongoing exercise to review all our facilities on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue to ensure that is based at the right location, that it meets the service standards we have in place and that it has adequate space to cater to the increase in taxpayers.

“La Digue was one of the location which needed to be placed at the forefront of our customer service plan and today we are pleased that we are able to render our service in manner that satisfies the requirements of our plan, that meets the need of the taxpayers on the island and that also alleviates the space constraints for our officers”.

Even if SRC is currently streamlining its processes to move unto its online platform, affirming its commitment to the general public, the organization will continue to maintain its offices to cater for the segment requiring direct contact with the organization.

Taxpayers are thus being encouraged to make good use of SRC facilities across Mahe, Praslin including the one on La Digue, which is also equipped with an outside sitting area in case of long queues around the monthly tax payment deadlines. The new office at La Passe Pension House is open from Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.
