SRC WELL REPRESENTED ACROSS MINISTRY OF EDUCATION’S CAREERS INITIATIVES FOR 2023

The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) has over the past weeks actively taken part in the initiatives organized by the Ministry of Education to mark this year’s Careers Week held between 10 to 14 July, 2023 under the theme ‘Change The Trend, Explore New Career Opportunities’.

Amongst the different activities conducted to build awareness about the week and highlight the various roles one can opt for when joining the world of work, this year SRC proudly joined the Ministry of Education’s Careers Fair held at the Camion Hall in Victoria by presenting an exciting stand at the event.

Held on the 10 and 11 July,  the fair attended by students from various schools in Seychelles, provided SRC the opportunity to not only inspire the students through the various career opportunities available in tax and customs, but to also engage with the students on their studying plans to grow and build a future with the organization through its learning and development programs. The students also had the chance to gain an in-depth insight on the function of the organization, its purpose and importance for the country and contributions they benefit through tax collection.

A group of dedicated officers  hailing from the Human Resources Section, Training and Development Unit as well as from the Taxpayer Education and Service Delivery Unit were on sight throughout the two day event, meeting with the students to also answer their queries, clarify  their doubts about the subjects and qualifications required in joining respective fields within the organization.

In addition to the fair, to further build and enhance SRC’s engagement with the Ministry of Education, last week on 13 and 14 July respectively, SRC opened its doors on Mahe, to twenty-nine students from the Belonie, Beau-Vallon, Perseverance, Plaisance and the English River secondary school on a tour of its facilities.

The half day session conducted at its Headquarters in Maison Colet, also covered Unity House, Sunshine House and Airport Cargo Terminal. Accompanied by their teachers, the group of S3, S4, and S5 students had the chance to attend an introductory session about the organization which was followed by a general overview of the different premises, including meeting with key SRC officers working within the different sections and units, learning about their career journey thus far and their experience as part of the SRC family.

To note, amongst the units visited, SRC’s Customs Entry Processing Unit and Air Cargo Examination Unit , Administration, Revenue, Legal, Human Resources,  External and Internal Audit, Customs – Bond and Excise Section, were some of the main units that caught the attention of the students who also used the time to question the staff who were on site during the visit.

Blazing the way for future initiatives, SRC seizes this opportunity to thank all the participants for their keen involvement in the success of both activities including the the Ministry of Education for the great collaboration in enabling the planned activities to proceed smoothly.
